Self-Taught Mixed Media Artist and Designer

I am a mixed media artist, sewing enthusiast, and all around creative person. I love to create altered books and journals, assemblages and shrines, collage art on canvas, decorative ornaments and jewelry. I also do scrap-booking and love to bake. I make all of these different things because I have a passion to learn new techniques and new art forms. Plus, I love to experiment with new and different materials, but try to incorporate re-purposed and upcycled materials into my projects as much as possible.

I majored in Fine Arts at Brooklyn College with a concentration in Oil Painting. One of the courses I took was Art History which included not only art, but architecture as well. I was inspired by all of the incredible art and architecture of the Victorian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. I am also inspired by nature and Japanese design. You will see from my work that I love to include flowers, birds and butterflies in my creations. I also studied Graphic Design at the School of Visual Arts and Art Mosaics at Westchester Community College Center for the Arts.

Besides selling my handmade wares in my Etsy shop, which I opened in 2010, I create handmade gifts for my family and friends, as well as for donation to charities. Encouraged by people's thoughtful, kind words about my talent and creativity, I decided to try selling my arts and crafts items at holiday bazaars and craft fairs. I opened a second shop in 2013, in collaboration with my daughter, Rebecca to sell handmade, one-of-a-kind fabric wallets, passport covers, sachets and gifts.

I have had the honor and privilege of having my work published in the Summer 2009 and Summer 2011 issues of Somerset Studio Gallery Magazine. This year, I was approached by the editor, Brianne Martin, to submit an article about my Traveler Shadowbox Assemblage for their Winter 2016 issue. My jewelry has been featured in Jewelry Affaire Magazine.

I am the team captain for the Northeast Etsy Artists Association. We are a group of artists and crafters from New York's Hudson Valley region who host local pop-up store events and artisan markets.
